No first-time visit to Newport is complete without a guided tour of Touro Synagogue.
Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic docents, including Aaron Ginsburg, a Newport native, CAI member, published historian, and passionate Touro aficionado, provide public tours on a regular basis.
Space is limited and registration is required. Expect to spend around 45 minutes on the tour.
If something prevents you from attending the tour, regrettably we are unable to issue a refund, but know that your payment is a charitable gift that goes toward the upkeep of Touro.
Security: Visitors should avoid bringing large bags or packages into the building and be prepared for a security check upon arrival.
We regret that there are no public restrooms, no parking, and that our historic building is not handicap-accessible.
Food and drinks are not allowed in the synagogue and should be left outside during tours.

Admission:
$18 for adults | $10 for seniors (65+) and youth (under 13)
We do our best to accommodate private groups. While we suggest capping your group to 25 participants, we will allow groups as large as 50. Groups are asked to contribute a flat rate of $150 for groups up to 10, $250 for groups of 11-25 participants, and $300 for up to 50 participants. For larger groups (or if you prefer to limit the size of your group) we ask that you submit separate request forms. Expect to spend around 45 minutes on the tour.
To arrange a tour for your group(s), please submit our form (click here) or contact us at (401) 843-9362 at least two weeks prior to your planned visit.
Private tours are typically available on Sundays, Mondays. and Friday afternoons. While sometimes we are able to offer a private tour on other days, if your request coincides with those days/times, there is a greater chance that we will be able to accommodate you. Please note that tours do not take place on the Sabbath (Friday evenings and Saturdays) or on major religious holidays.
Your tour is not confirmed until you hear back from us informing you that the arrangements are in place.
Cancellation policy: We are unable to accept cancellations within one week of your scheduled private tour. Also, if you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we cannot guarantee that our docent will be able to give you your tour, and we cannot offer a refund in that case. We do our best to accommodate our visitors but, understand, we work hard to arrange private tours, and our docents set aside their time, and travel distances to be there for you.
